Alexis combines the best of her journalism background and legal training to bring clients efficient and excellent advocacy. She is passionate about small businesses and assists both owners and employees in transactional and litigation matters, including employment law, intellectual property and class action disputes. Alexis regularly drafts complex procedural and substantive documents for litigation, also actively managing discovery and participating in mediation and settlement negotiations. In addition to her litigation practice, Alexis also advises clients on contract matters, where she both creates and reviews transactional documents, including employment contracts, non-disclosure and non-competition agreements, and commercial leases.
Prior to her time at KJK, Alexis served as an extern for Chief Judge Edmund A. Sargus of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio and Justice Judith L. French of the Supreme Court of Ohio. These experiences allowed Alexis to gain insight into the judicial decision-making process, and she uses that knowledge to advise clients.
Drawing on experiences from the newsroom to the courtroom, she brings exceptional listening skills to her work with clients, helping her to understand their needs and goals and find the best path to achieve those goals.
Originally from the Hocking Hills area of Southeastern Ohio, Alexis is a longtime Columbus resident and active participant in the city’s arts and culture scene, and supports Columbus’s local businesses and entrepreneurs.
“I like to hear people’s stories. Being a good listener helps me connect with clients. I can write more effectively for their cases if I really understand their issues.” – Alexis V. Preskar
