Brett is an experienced trial lawyer who has tried a significant number of matters in court or in arbitrations since joining the firm in April 2004. He initially began his practice focusing on commercial litigation with a national firm in Washington, D.C. Subsequently, he returned to his home town of Cleveland, Ohio and continued to focus on business litigation including in the areas of securities, contract disputes, unfair competition, restrictive covenants and trade secrets.
Since joining the firm, Brett has continued his work for a diverse client base from small entrepreneurial entities to large public companies. He has worked on diverse matters from quickly growing non-compete injunctive actions to elongated federal securities class-actions. He continues to focus on broker-dealer issues as well as business disputes impacting the firm’s clients.

Brett has lectured extensively on issues of interest to the firm’s clients including: covenants not to compete, internal investigations under Sarbanes-Oxley, and current issues in electronic discovery.
